The Salem room depicts dramatic decor of the English Regency Victorian era. The room is located on the second floor and features a queen-size sleigh bed, desk and comfortable chair beside the impressive red fireplace (non-operational) with original tile and cover from the early 1900s. The private bathroom is just down the hall and includes a tub/shower combination and pedestal sink.

Built in 1907 as the private residence of Henry Fries Shaffner, the co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust, this extravagant Victorian-style mansion boasts Tiger oak hand-carved paneling, original coal-burning fireplaces, a grand staircase and priceless antiques. It is perfect for quiet nights away or corporate and private events. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, it is walking-distance to a multitude of the city’s best restaurants, bars and shops.

The Shaffner has retained historic charm while expanding to include modern amenities such as free WiFi, 43” smart, flat-screen TVs, alarm/clock and USB charging stations. For your convenience, we also provide complimentary face wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. In addition, you will have access to comfortable common areas indoors and outdoors, as well as a private parking lot.

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 7 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 7 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
